Synopsis:-
Four rootless drifters have temporarily stalled on a third-wrold island off the coast of Chile. They are con-man Dennis, his casual girlfriend Amanda who is working to protect an endangered species of local bird, rich-boy Brian who is into drugs and whores, and solo sailor Craig.

They are joined by Dennis' sister Kelley who wants Dennis to return home with her to sort out some family problems. He uses his relationship with Amanda as an excuse not to return, but is he being honest? While Kelley tries to persuade him she finds herself falling for Craig. Meanwhile Amanda has a surreal encounter which causes her to re-evaluate her life.

Who will stay on the isaland, and who will leave?

My review:-

Wanderlust is a film I would describe as watchable rather than brilliant. The main storyline is solid enough, but some of the back story and subplots are weak. The ease with which Sabrina's character accepts that she is talking to a ghost is a case in point.

The dialogue is a bit ropey in parts, as are most of theperformances. Only Sabrina seems totally comfortable delivering her lines (even the ropey ones). Ria Pavia does fine for the most part but the male performances range from adequate to awful.

Sabrina doesn't have a lot to work with in truth but delivers her usual assured performance. It's rather an easy role for her and doesn't really stretch either her dramatic or comedic talents. Her stand out moment comes right at the start when she does a little striptease in a cute and amusing scene. (Don't get excited, it's only the start of one and is played for laughs so don't expect displays of flesh.)

Her role is quite large - possibly second in size to Ria Pavia's - and we get to see a lot of her. If I say she looks fantastic would anyone be surprised? No, I guess not. But she manages it despite spending the whole film in dirty torn jeans and a big man's shirt. There are some wonderful shots of just her on the screen giving one of her gorgeous smiles or those heart-wrenching melancholic
looks she does.

Which is my way of saying that if you're a Sabrina fan, you should see this film.

NB: Wanderlust is available on dvd.
